Interior Design Course

This 1 day a week course runs for 20 weeks and is ideal for anyone who has an interest and passion for creative interior design. Your tutor Cathy has a professional architectural and interiors background, with 20 years’ experience of teaching City & Guilds Interiors courses.

The course covers colour scheming, planning, technical drawing, producing a concept board, costing and the basics of project management.

Throughout the course you will develop 3 workable schemes and produce technical drawings - Plan, Electrical Plan, Elevations, as well a sketchbook of information. The drawings are produced to scale on a drawing board in this informative course.

Classes are kept to a maximum of 5 people to ensure lots of guidance and feedback.

An initial kit of technical drawing equipment is included in the cost. (Worth £38) All materials provided, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits, but please bring a packed lunch!

Colour wheel, tints and tones

01  Colour Theory

In this project you'll be introduced to the principles of colour theory, and

- create a primary and secondary colour wheel

- create tints, tones and shades using colouring materials

- create greyscale using colouring materials

 

You will also be shown how to colour render presentation drawings to help you 'sell' your design schemes to a prospective client.

02  Kitchen & Dining Room.

In this project you will be given survey templates to work from to produce a workable design scheme: scaled drawings on the drawing board, to include a Floor Plan, Electrical Plan and Elevations that will be colour rendered.

You will also produce a sketchbook of notes and a concept presentation board. You will present your scheme to the rest of your class.

03 Bedroom with Ensuite

In this project you will be given survey information to work from to produce a workable design scheme of a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom: scaled drawings on the drawing board, to include a Floor Plan, Electrical Plan and Elevations that will be colour rendered.

You will also produce a sketchbook of notes and a concept presentation board. You will present your scheme to the rest of your class.

04  Living Room

In this project you will be given survey information to work from to produce a workable design scheme of a living room: scaled drawings on the drawing board, to include a Floor Plan, Electrical Plan and Elevations that will be colour rendered. In addition, you will be taught how to produce a 3D isometric presentation drawing.

You will also produce a sketchbook of notes and a concept presentation board. You will present your scheme to the rest of your class.
